Varanasi rewards people who arrive at the right hour. The ghats are at their best before sunrise, Kashi Vishwanath is calmest mid-morning, Sarnath is a quiet early afternoon, and the Ganga Aarti needs you seated well before 6:45 PM. Our drivers plan the day in that order — so you see more, queue less, and never feel rushed.
One of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the heart of the city. Mangala Aarti runs 3–4 AM, Bhog Aarti 11:30 AM–12 PM, Sandhya Aarti around 7 PM. Phones and bags are not allowed inside — we park close to a permitted gate and hold your belongings in the car.
The grand choreographed aarti begins around 6:45 PM and lasts roughly 45 minutes. Regulars arrive an hour early for a good spot, or take a boat for a view from the water. We drop as close as traffic allows and wait until you are done.
Subah-e-Banaras starts with music and yoga on the ghat at first light. A 5:30 AM pickup gets you there in time for the boat ride upriver past Harishchandra, Kedar and Dashashwamedh in the softest light of the day.
Thirteen kilometres out, where the Buddha gave his first sermon. Dhamek Stupa, the Ashoka pillar, the monastery ruins, the Thai and Tibetan temples and the museum with the original Lion Capital. Museum shuts on Fridays.
Founded in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and one of Asia’s largest residential campuses. The New Vishwanath Temple stands at its centre, with Bharat Kala Bhavan museum nearby — an unhurried, green counterpoint to the old city.
Founded by Tulsidas, and the rare temple where Hanuman faces his Lord Rama. Tuesdays and Saturdays are busiest. The besan ke laddoo sold as prasad here is worth the queue.
An 18th-century Nagara-style temple washed in ochre red, beside a stepped tank that once fed directly from the river. Especially alive during Navratri.
A white marble shikhara temple built in 1964, its walls engraved with verses from the Ram Charit Manas. Tulsidas is said to have written the epic on this very spot.
Built in 1936 inside the Kashi Vidyapith campus and dedicated not to a deity but to India itself — a vast marble relief map of the undivided subcontinent, carved to scale.
The cremation ghats, burning without pause for centuries — the reason many come to Kashi at all. Photography is not permitted; we will brief you on how to visit respectfully.
The 18th-century sandstone seat of the Maharaja of Banaras, across the river. Its Saraswati Bhawan museum holds vintage cars, palanquins, weapons and an astronomical clock from 1852.
Where five rivers are said to meet. The Alamgir Mosque rises above it, its domes and minarets forming the most recognisable silhouette on the northern stretch of the riverfront.

October to March is most comfortable, with pleasant days and cool evenings. Dev Deepawali in November and Mahashivratri are spectacular but very crowded — book a vehicle several weeks ahead. April to June gets extremely hot, and the monsoon raises the river enough to suspend boat rides.
Not always. The old city is a maze of narrow lanes, and vehicles are barred near Kashi Vishwanath and Dashashwamedh. We drop you at the closest permitted point and tell you exactly how long the walk is — usually five to fifteen minutes. For elderly passengers we can arrange a cycle rickshaw or e-rickshaw for the last stretch.
Kashi Vishwanath does not permit phones, cameras, bags, belts or leather items. There are paid lockers outside, but the simplest arrangement is to leave everything locked in the car with the driver.
Yes. We work with regular boatmen at Assi and Dashashwamedh — shared or private, rowed or motor — and with government-licensed guides who can explain the ghats and temples properly. Both are billed separately at their standard rates, with no commission added.
Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees. Footwear must come off outside every temple, so slip-ons save a lot of time. Carry a thin scarf — useful in the sun and at the shrines.
Generally yes, and the ghats stay busy well into the night. We share the driver’s name, photo and vehicle number before pickup, and our office line stays reachable through the trip. Many solo travellers keep the same driver for their whole stay.
